Love them or loathe them, if you work in an office and need to speak other staff members that work in a different location or to your customers on a regular basis, then chances are you are a regular partaker in the good old conference call.
It can’t be denied that the ability to hold a virtual meeting rather than forcing a group of people to make an unnecessary journey to discuss a topic that can easily be discussed by phone is a wonderful thing, especially if like us a B2B PR agency, you have clients which are based from Manchester to London.
But, who can deny that all too frequently, they can be a painful, frustrating and often hilarious experience that you have to be part of to believe. From screaming children, ringing doorbells and purring cats, any manner of background noises can make an appearance during a conference call. An ex-colleague of mine told me she could once hear splashing in the background during call with a CEO of a very important company only later to discover that the CEO was bathing his daughter while taking the call. Talk about multi-tasking!
So, for those of you that do partake on conference calls on a regular basis, then this viral video that has recently been doing the rounds will surely resonate with you. It depicts everyone in every conference you’ve been a part of as if they were that way in actual face-to-face meeting. There’s the 5 minutes late guy, dog-barking-at-home-office guy, static- reception guy ….you get the picture! Genius!
