It’s been announced that Manchester is the government’s location of choice for the UK’s second technology start-up hub. Hoping it will follow the success of London’s Tech City, ‘Tech North’ will take up residency in Manchester’s trendy Northern Quarter.
The body behind the hub plans to invest in exciting ideas and start-up businesses and hopes to foster an entrepreneurial environment in the city. This move by the government is all part of a strategy to create technology clusters around the country and to encourage economic growth beyond London.
Cameron and Osborne have both announced their support for this project and they hope it will contribute to the country’s position as a global hub of technology excellence. They have also pledged their support for the many other emerging tech clusters that are sprouting up across the UK.
As a B2B and technology PR agency based near Manchester, we’re always excited to hear about investment in the region particularly when it’s so close to home and supports tech innovation. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the opening of ‘Tech North’ and will report more here on the blog when we learn more. Watch this space!
