Brighten the back story

In the next installment from our Natural PR guide, we take a look at how to use your business back story to promote your business. It’s not uncommon for in B2B PR to find a client that wants to ‘tell the world’ about every development it makes. But what may be a good company story to those within the organisation does not always look so exciting or relevant to those on the outside – the media for example. An alternative approach and strong Natural PR is the back story – where did it all begin and what happened along the way?

While journalists will chart the development of big brands and famous leaders, most of us need to be more creative to gain a business journalist’s attention. They’re inherently interested in the things business owners are often less reluctant to reveal. From a journalist’s perspective their interest is often in how the business or individual overcame the challenge and the full journey right from day one.

People buy from people so it’s important that your customers and the market are able to engage with the personalities behind the business. It creates credibility and reality and helps to build your business’ personality.
