So how do you gain some really great PR coverage for an already well-known brand that is nothing new and isn’t really something you’d buy as a present (I hope) when all the manufacturers are currently battling it out for the festive column inches? You let one of your stockists do it for you with a really innovative but basic festive idea.
We love a good PR story with a festive twist here at Skout PR; and my favourite one so far this December has to be the Henry The Hoover nativity scene that appeared in the shop window of an electrical appliance store in Essex.
The owners of the shop were behind the festive display which featured different coloured models of Henry taking on the roles of the three wise men and of course Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus.
The window display certainly caught the attention of the locals and the scene was soon attracting wider attention from UK’s media outlets including: The BBC, ITV, The Huffington Post, Metro and The Express.
As a B2B PR agency we love that this story demonstrates the power of a great photo story. Something very simple and easy to orchestrate but which has received mega attention from the UK’s press. As delighted as I’m sure Numatic International (the manufacturers of Henry) is of the fantastic coverage this story has generated, I bet its PR team is kicking itself in didn’t think of it themselves.
