So, we’re almost in the month of December when Christmas shopping and festivities reach fever pitch. The sudden influx of Christmas TV adverts on our screens are currently working hard to try and get us all in festive spirit and it’s all out war on our screens as the UK’s top retailers battle it out to ensure we buy their three bird roast or cut price Baileys.
Most of our best loved retailers have all raised the bar this year to impress when it comes to their Christmas adverts. John Lewis’ advertising campaign centres on the animated tale of a hare trying to show a bear how to enjoy Christmas. Not the usual festive offering we’ve perhaps come to expect from John Lewis and it does nothing to highlight the treats its currently got on sale, but it’s certainly done its job in capturing our imaginations and got everyone talking about ‘that John Lewis ad.’ So emotive was the advert to many that Facebook and Twitter were awash with links to the advert following its debut with social networkers keen to share the John Lewis festive message with friends and followers.
Both Tescos and Sainsburys have opted to keep it ‘real’ this year with their adverts depicting family get togethers and returning family members in time for Christmas.
Love them or hate them you generally can’t avoid them so what’s your favourite Christmas ad campaign this year? My vote goes to Aldi who continues to use its dry sense of humour and apply it to the festive season.
