Make the most of Instagram

Did you know there are 200 million users of Instagram in the world? And this social media platforms is rapidly gaining popularity among the business community as more and more brands sign up on a daily basis. With many businesses now having figured out what works for them on both Facebook and Twitter, many are now looking at Instagram as platform with which to engage with their audiences.

As Instagram is picture led, marketers needs to start thinking about their content from a visual perspective. Easy said than done but this article from PR Daily, offers top tips to make Instagram instantly more accessible to a wider business audience:

  1. Be active – if you are blogging once a week, aim to Instagram with that frequency as well. Use Instagram as another channel to promote your blog and post an image illustrating the theme of the content to amplify your message.
  2. Keep it short – Brands that are active on Instagram tend to keep their posts under 140 characters, the same length as a tweet. You can then tweet out your Instagram without changing the copy. Bonus!
  3. Share the love – Did you know that a post that tags another Instagram user or includes an ‘@’ mention in the copy increases engagement by an average of 56%.
  4. Use hashtags, but don’t go nuts – When it comes to hashtags, be judicious. Hashtag where relevant but don’t go overboard.
  5. Think locally – Most brands (and people) don’t tag their location but thinking locally can have a big pay-off. Location-tagged posts tend to earn considerably more engagement.

If you haven’t heard by now, Skout is under new ownership! No, we haven’t been bought out – in fact it’s quite the opposite. As of last week, Skout officially became an employee-owned business. This was achieved by the founding shareholders, Rob and Claire, signing 100% ownership over to a newly established Employee Ownership Trust acting on behalf of the...

It’s been a long time in the planning (pre-pandemic to be precise) and the first time we’ve been abroad for a kick off to the new financial year. We’ve always found kick off meetings a great way...

In May I was fortunate to be able to attend the recent UK Construction Week at Excel in London and see the strides forward an industry, that has become recognised as one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions, is making in tackling the thorny issue of achieving Net Zero. In his keynote on day one, Lord Callanan, Under Secretary...

As a smaller business, it can be hard to know where to start when it comes to sustainability. Sure, we all do our best to use the right recycling bin at home, and bring our re-usable coffee cups to work. But with serious pressures now mounting from the government – which pledged to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 –...

Another week, another round of mass layoffs in the tech sector. With Amazon (AWS) and Meta cutting thousands of jobs, and further layoffs at Salesforce and of course Twitter, it has felt a bit like the tech world has been imploding of late.
