As you know, we here at Skout like nothing more than a good PR stunt and especially when it’s in support of a good cause. So we loved this story featured in today’s Manchester Evening News about a campaign to raise awareness of local charity, Forever Manchester.
Feeding the homeless, offering shelter from the rain and paying parking fines are just some of the good deeds that have been dished out by Manchester’s very own superhero over the last three weeks.
Community superhero Captain Manchester is the brainchild of Tunafish Media who created him as part of a guerrilla marketing campaign to help raise awareness of local charitable organisation Forever Manchester.
In addition to random acts of kindness, Captain Manchester was also responsible for the 300 balloons that appeared in the city centre in the middle of the night to help put a smile on the city’s early morning commuters.
So successful was Tunafish Media’s awareness campaign, Captain Manchester now has more than 3,500 followers on Twitter and the story of his acts of kindness generated a lot of regional and even national press coverage.
The campaign was created to launch the Captain Manchester comic to help raise money for the charity which offers support to local people and initiatives trying to make a positive change across Greater Manchester’s neighbourhoods.
