New public sector and procurement PR client for Skout

Adding to our growing portfolio of clients in the procurement sector, we’ve been appointed by ESPO, the UK’s largest not-for-profit public sector purchasing organisation which manages over £1billion of public spending annually and runs over 260 EU-compliant frameworks.

Tasked by ESPO to help raise its profile in sectors including education, local government and healthcare, we devised a number of innovative campaigns highlighting the best practice and savings that can be realised from working with the professional purchasing organisation.

With an extensive product range which includes everything from stationery to classroom furniture and services such as buying insurance or hiring temporary staff, ESPO is able to drive best value for public organisations and offers sustainable business opportunities for the private firms that supply them.

Trevor Phipps, sales and marketing director, ESPO said: “Every penny counts in the public sector, so it’s essential that organisations are aware of professional purchasing organisations like ourselves and the benefits we can deliver due to the strength of our buying power.

“PR is an effective way for ESPO to tell its story and help position us as the UK’s leading authority on public sector purchasing and spending. We were extremely impressed with the campaign ideas created by Skout which highlight some of purchasing challenges facing the public sector and how we are able to address these issues.

Rob Skinner, managing director, Skout PR, said: “We’re excited to welcome ESPO to our finance, procurement and supply chain practice and are looking forward to shaping and delivering its key messages to the procurement, public sector and national press.

“The addition of ESPO to our portfolio of clients means that 2014 has got off to a cracking start for Skout. We look forward to our continuing campaign with ESPO and helping to raise awareness of its services to the public sector.

A CIPR PRide award Outstanding Small Consultancy winner in 2013, we work with organisations in the North West and throughout the UK. We offer a full portfolio of communication services including media relations, digital content and social media, customer reference programmes, thought leadership campaigns and digital marketing content. Our clients in the procurement sector also include Optimum Procurement Group and Wax Digital.

This is an exciting move that provides great opportunities for everyone connected with the business, not just for our employees, but for our clients and everyone we will work with in the future. As part of the process, an employee-owned trust...

In short, yes. But that answer would make this a really brief blog 😉. With the UK Government estimating that one in six UK organisations, nearly half a million companies, have embraced at least one AI technology, the chances are your employees are already using it – whether officially or unofficially. One thing that we discovered when we started to...

Why was PR your chosen career?  Without it sounding like the biggest cliché in the industry, I just happened to fall into PR unintentionally. I applied to study journalism at Leeds Beckett University but they replied telling me that the course was already full, heart-breaking stuff 😔. Instead, they offered me a place on the public relations course, so I...

You may have seen recently the brilliant news that Skout is now an employee-owned business as our founding shareholders, Rob Skinner and Claire Lamb, signed 100 per cent of the company’s ownership over to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) which acts on the behalf of our team. It’s a move that provides great opportunities for everyone connected with the business,...

Generative AI (such as ChatGPT) has caused a bit of a storm in the marketing world but its power to transform is being embraced by other industries to significant advantage. In this blog I am looking specifically at the retail industry and how it is adopting GenAI to help shape the future of customer experience whilst also reducing costs. Creating...

From Meet Ups to Expos, the tech industry is one that thrives on knowledge and best-practice sharing. Yet all too often tech events fail to hit the mark when it comes to offering tangible value, instead created by corporate machines as something of a vehicle for self-promotion.   Manchester’s Amy Newton is on a mission to change that, striving to reinvent...

AI has been the hot topic in our team meetings over the past few months, with the Skout team debating the pros and cons of its use. From using it to assist with desk research and providing inspiration for headlines through to transcribing interviews to help remove the need for extensive notetaking. Its flipside, however, has driven conversations around its...
