It’s recently been announced that our industry bible PR Week will be weekly no more. From this month the print version of this trade publication becomes monthly.
Publishers, Haymarket Media have changed the frequency of the title to bring it into line with its other flagship title, Marketing which also went from weekly to monthly earlier this year.
Here at Skout HQ, we’re not entirely surprised at this decision – relieved in fact that it hasn’t gone the same way as a multitude of other trade titles that I and my colleagues in B2B PR have sadly seen disappear from the print world and now exist purely online.
With busy PROs unlikely to have time the time to spend reading a weekly issue from cover to cover, hopefully the new monthly version will be more accessible for more PR professionals who can now catch up on industry gossip and features just once a month.
Of course, anyone desperate for their weekly update will still be able to get a fix by visiting the online version which will remain updated frequently.
Here at Skout HQ we’re pleased that the publishers have decided to continue with a print edition and I’m sure that the new monthly version will have a full revamp and hit our desks with more indepth content than ever before. But we think it’s a shame that an industry that feeds the media with its clients stories can’t even sustain a weekly issue….unfortunately, it’s just a sign of the times!
