There was great excitement at Skout HQ yesterday as we managed to land our client ESPO a slot on BBC regional news show East Midlands Today.
ESPO is the UK’s largest public sector buying organisation and works with suppliers to provide schools, local authorities, hospitals and blue light organisations with the products and services it needs from its enormous warehouse in Leicester at best price.
Yesterday was one of the busiest days of the year for the team at ESPO as the UK’s academy schools looked to spend their annual budgets on the essential goods they need at the start of the new academic year.
ESPO predicted that they’d see a peak in spending from academies at this time of year, so we decided to bill yesterday as the busiest day of the year and call it ‘Super Spend Day’ and take this story to the press. As ESPO is a big employer in the Leicestershire area and keen to highlight its success as a not-for-profit organisation providing a service to the region’s schools, East Midland’s Today, were keen to run a piece on the story.
The East Midlands Today team showed the scale of the operation at ESPO and the journey of an order – from receipt through to delivery. The camera crew filmed an ESPO member of staff taking an order, showed how that order was then processed in the warehouse through to its final delivery at a local school.
Broadcast opportunities are often hard to come by in B2B PR, so there was great excitement as we saw the fruits of our labour broadcast across the East Midlands yesterday. You can catch the news slot here (13.5 mins into the programme).
