As tech PRs we’re always interested learn about new technologies on the horizon so was interested to hear about what Google has planned as it hosted its I/O developer conference in San Francisco this week.
Google showcased a new version of its Android operating system, Android L which is due out later this year. Android L will support its new launches which includes Android Wear, a smart watch designed to work closely with Android smartphones, while responding to voice commands from users and showing ‘glanceable notifications’ from apps.
Google also set out its plans for Android TV with a ‘lean back’ interface which improves viewing and you can also search for shows or films by voice command. It is also bringing games to the big and small screen at the same time, allowing users to play multi-player games with friends who are on tablets.
There’s even Android software for your car and links up with your phone and allows control of apps via voice and keen to invade every aspect of our lives Google also wants us to use just one phone and one laptop to use for work and home. It is working with developers to make this happen with high levels of security and collaboration and the ability to edit and share Microsoft Office files without conversion to Google Docs.
Not sure I’ll be rushing out to buy any of them but then I’ve always been a fairly slow adopter of new technologies only to part with the readies once I REALLY need or want it. So what do you think? Impressed?
